Economic Empowerment and Livelihood Support

IMPACTSOM provides targeted economic empowerment and livelihood support to Somali communities, focusing on sustainable development, youth employment, and inclusive growth.

For business start-ups and SMEs, IMPACTSOM assists aspiring entrepreneurs, small business owners, and SME operators with business idea validation, feasibility assessments, business planning, legal registration, licensing, and access to financial resources such as microloans, grants, and business development funds. The organization also provides mentorship, coaching, and guidance on market-driven strategies, financial management, and operational efficiency to ensure business sustainability and growth.

In supporting income generation activities and SME development, IMPACTSOM strengthens key local livelihoods including agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and small-scale enterprises by providing technical training, capacity-building, access to improved seeds, tools, equipment, veterinary support, sustainable farming and fishing practices, and linking producers and SMEs to local, regional, and cross-border markets. These interventions aim to increase productivity, income, and resilience of vulnerable households and business owners.

To address youth unemployment and support university graduates, IMPACTSOM delivers vocational and technical skills training, SME-focused entrepreneurship programs, internship and apprenticeship opportunities, job placement services, and career guidance. These services equip young people with market-relevant skills, enhance employability, and create pathways for self-reliance while fostering SME-driven job creation.

Additionally, IMPACTSOM strengthens community capacities and SME ecosystems through financial literacy training, cooperative formation, participatory project planning, business mentorship, and monitoring and evaluation of livelihood and SME programs to ensure long-term impact, sustainability, and inclusive economic growth for Somali communities.
